WHAT DO AMY WINEHOUSE, THE OLSEN TWINS & OWEN WILSON HAVE IN COMMON...WE ARE ROOTING FOR THEM!

The past year has been nothing short of a whirlwind fueled by drooling paparazzi and reporters itching for insider secrets. From the famous Spears custody battle and dramatic breakdown, to the unexpected death of Trim Spa spokesperson/model, Anna Nicole Smith, to yet another successful Jolie/Pitt adoption, this year has been full of headliner celebrity gossip. As we engross ourselves deeper into the entertaining lives of the names we love to love and love to hate, I can’t help but wonder who will make a comeback in 2008. Whose New Year’s resolutions will include a one-hundred-eighty degree turnaround, rehab, or spiritual awakening?

Prediction #1 is Miss Amy Winehouse with the very ironic and public descent into apparent drug abuse. Published photos of the singer puffing on a crack pipe while singing on stages across America, “They tried to make me go to rehab/I said no, no, no” doesn’t quite go unnoticed.

Winehouse will hit rock bottom this year and hit it hard. It doesn’t look good for the singer, but I’ll put in my vote (albeit tentatively) that she can still make it. She’ll realize her career is at stake and that the show simply can’t go on this time. Step away from the pipe, Amy, and finally into rehab where your salvation is waiting. It’s the help she’s shrugged off thus far.

Prediction #2 is the Olsen twins, who continue to prove just how grown up they’ve become — outgrowing baby-faced cuteness and the good-girl modesty. Amidst recent snapshots of the identical college students swapping spit with a list of stars two to three times their years of experience, (Lance Armstrong, Ashley? cough…cough...), I’m still pulling for the Olsens to settle into steady relationships.

The youthful pull of college-aged coyness will wear off, and soon. Mary-Kate and Ashley will realize what all girls want in the end: stability. And when you’re five feet worth of pint-sized cuteness, suitors are standing by.

Finally, Prediction #3 is for Owen Wilson, known most recently for his attempted suicide back in August. Wilson’s self-therapy has included exotic Hollywood-style vacations, physical exercise, and time with his best buddies. The star is in the process of taking control of his life, continuing to work in film, and I think will discover new drive in 2008.

I’m crossing my fingers that one explosive film role will result and show us all he’s back on top of his game. From Wedding Crashers to Shanghai Knights we love Wilson and won’t let him slip through the cracks and leave us with only the re-runs.

Can they do it? I don’t think Mary-Kate and Ashley will let me down. That one’s bound to happen, and this year they’ll be 22 years older and wiser. Thank heaven! However, Amy might take a little longer to commit to change. How many other celebrities have we watched succumb to a similar fate? Maybe I’m being optimistic, but I’ll hold out a little longer without holding my breath.

Finally, I do believe Owen has an honest chance to bounce back to his feet and impress the critics. He has what it takes. After all he was the one who said, sometimes “You just go out and do it.” Come on Owen, just go out and do it!!!
