DON’T RELY ON CHANCE - SEIZE ALL OPPORTUNTIES
Grasping at second chances is like grasping the fog. It’s there. You can see it, if only you could take hold of it. Webster’s Dictionary defines “chance” as “something that happens unpredictably without discernible human intention or observable cause.” That definition implies you have no control. Whatever happens, happens. How does that impact the idea of a second “chance?” I think the first step is to replace the word chance with opportunity. Everyday we’re given opportunities. We need to pay attention and be open to receiving these opportunities. Recognize them and take action.
“You only have one chance to make a first impression;” we’ve all heard that one. What if your first impression wasn’t what you intended it to be? Many times you have another opportunity to get across what your intention was in the first place. I see that as another first “chance.” Take your first experience, learn from it and move on.
Often times we live in the past (remember what happened last time?) or concentrate on the future (what if?). It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about your love life, relationships or a business venture. If you keep your eyes and heart open, opportunities will always present themselves.
As we live, our lives change all around us. Often times, the change that is most important, the change within ourselves, is lacking. We hold on to memories and experiences that only serve to keep us where we don’t want to be. Whether you want to call it chance or opportunity, they are both abundant in our lives. Go ahead. Take a chance.
